Stuff The Bus Rockingham

Making “Back to School” a little easier for those in need. Our Rockingham Quarry in North Carolina was a prime sponsor for the 12th annual Richmond County United Way Stuff the Bus event and provided 500 pencil pouches, 1,000 pencils, 500 pencil sharpeners, 500 erasers and 500 rulers for Richmond County School students. In addition, new teachers were provided with a bag containing a notepad, pen and keychain. We also donated $250 in gift cards as special door prize drawings for the teachers.

10-Ton Symbol

“The influence of a great teacher can never be erased,” Enka Intermediate School’s tribute to a teacher who had passed away. More than a rock, it’s an anchor for the Enka Intermediate community. Our team at Enka Quarry donated the 10-ton symbol to help students, families and teachers showcase

Virtual Education Rocks

When students can’t come to us, we go to them online. Abbey from our Western Division met with nearly 50 2nd graders from Ericson Elementary School. She put on her PPE and showed them how important rocks are in our daily lives. One of 235 similar partnerships across the country, our Carroll Canyon quarry in the San Diego area has partnered with Ericson for over 12 years.

When It Rains It Stores!

That’s McCook Reservoir Stage 1 on the right, holding 3.5 billion gallons. In partnership with @mwrd, we’re mining Stage 2, which will hold another 6.5 billion gallons. The reservoir, which is one of the country’s largest public works projects for pollution and flood control, again played a vital role when record-setting rains recently hit the Chicago area. First Rail Shipment

We’re very excited! The first rail shipment from our Medina Quarry has arrived at Port Freeport, Texas. This new rail access, paired with our existing shipyard, helps us better supply our customers and diversify our product line in the Coastal Texas Market. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in a creative partnership with the Port. We look forward to growing our capabilities in Freeport in the years to come.

Spread the Sweetness

There was a lot of sweetness spreading around our Friendship and Norcross quarries outside Atlanta. That’s right, we hosted beehives and made honey.
