Virtual Education Rocks

When students can’t come to us, we go to them online. Abbey from our Western Division met with nearly 50 2nd graders from Ericson Elementary School. She put on her PPE and showed them how important rocks are in our daily lives. One of 235 similar partnerships across the country, our Carroll Canyon quarry in the San Diego area has partnered with Ericson for over 12 years.

2019 NSSGA Awards

Congratulations to our Vulcan family for earning the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Louis Griesemer Sterling Safety Award. Thank you for working together to ensure that our people return home from work as healthy and safe as when they left for the jobsite.

When It Rains It Stores!

That’s McCook Reservoir Stage 1 on the right, holding 3.5 billion gallons. In partnership with @mwrd, we’re mining Stage 2, which will hold another 6.5 billion gallons. The reservoir, which is one of the country’s largest public works projects for pollution and flood control, again played a vital role when record-setting rains recently hit the Chicago area. Pleasanton Quarry Mascot

Our Pleasanton Quarry in California provides a unique habitat for a variety of animal species including white-tailed deer, cotton-tailed rabbits and ruddy ducks. The bald eagles are a favorite of the Pleasanton team and their customers, who regard “The Eagles” as the plant’s unofficial mascot.
